Island trip part 2 - Hiiumaa ( and a little bit of Saaremaa )

July 31, 2011

Here's the last batch of pictures of my trip.
On the third day we went hiking on Vilsandi, but all I would have to show you are nature views( and hiking clothes, but c'mon..).
The fourth day took us (thrift)shopping to Kuressaare. I got myself a really pretty skirt that I'm sure you'll see soon and also the bowtie bracelet from one of my previous posts.

Family portrait taken with my lomo at a spot where land ends and the sea takes over. It was crazy windy in there and waves came from both sides.
At Kõpu lighthouse, one of the biggest in Estonia. It was even windier in there so I had to hold my skirt and my hat all the time..

Vanajõe valley was a really sweet place. The river in the bottom of the valley was really curvy and fun to watch. And there were also blueberries which just happen to be my favourites.
Angla windmills at Saaremaa. These are also things that you can find scattered all over Estonia, but the are still interesting. Of course I had to climb to every single one just to realize that they all looked the same inside. :)
Really adorable little goats at Angla.
 I was wearing:
thrifted skirt
thirfted top
vintage bangles from my mom
hat from seppälä

Island trip part 1- Hiiumaa

July 29, 2011

As you might remember, I spent most of last week discovering the two biggest islands in Estonia - Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. And now I've finally got round to posting the pictures !!

So the first day took us on a ferry and to Hiiumaa. We explored quite a lot of places, unfortunately I don't have decent photos of all of them. The distances between the sights were ridiculously small to cover by car. We actually came across the same cyclists almost everywhere we went.

I'll be spending this weekend at Viljandi Folk festival. I hadn't actually planned to go, I was already looking forward to a quiet weekend at Otepää, but then my mom won a day-pass for two to the folk festival and now I'm going. See you there, everyone !
At Lehtma beach. The water was quite cold to go swimming plus there were jellyfish.
Soera farm museum. There are many such museums scattered all over the country and they are all just as nice as this one. The adults in our little group were quite interested in the home-made beer, though.
Estonian version of the Hill of Crosses(last year I visited a much bigger and more spiritual one in Lithuania). Nowadays it is a tradition for everyone who comes to Hiiumaa for the first time to put a little cross up there. They are usually made of branches that are found in the woods.

My dad at Tahkuna lighthouse( the next 3 pictures are also taken there) . It was my most favourite sight of the whole trip, I have no idea why, but I just liked it ! :)

The view from the top of the lighthouse, mostly just sea. But it felt really liberating to see the sea pretty much everywhere you go and have the smell of the sea in my hair at the end of the day.

A wine kitchen from some hundred years ago to end our day. Nothing special, but just.. scenic. It is one of the last surviving parts of and old manor complex.

The first and fourth pictures are taken with my lomo, I finally got the film full and the pictures developed!

What she wore

July 27, 2011

This post is dedicated to one of my best friends, Kaisa. I thought that she deserves an outfitpost, being one of the most awesome persons I know :)
Usually, people who meet Kaisa get the idea that she's a shy and quiet girl. But then she might have a spontaneous dance battle with someone at a party or start giggling for no good reason(she usually says that an old joke came to her mind.. riiiight). Kaisa is a total realist, she takes thing as they are, doesn't make them prettier or uglier. She has her feet on the ground, I would say.
Kaisa loves animals and nature, and especially bugs. One day she will become a veterinarian, or she even might run the Tallinn Zoo. Who knows ?!
I'm extremely grateful to have a friend like Kaisa. Happy birthday again, babe !

The future is where we belong

July 25, 2011

Today , Getter and I went shopping for birthday gifts for Kaisa. I just finished making her gift more awesome than it was . I know she doesn't read my blog , but you can never be too careful, I wouldn't want to spoil it for her. I promise pictures after her birthday, which is tomorrow. One more friend to join the 17 club !
In Seppälä we found out that all of their sunglasses were only for 2,8€ . The difficult part was to choose a pair. I finally went for these round ones, which also come in pink. I'm so happy to have more than one decent pair on sunglasses now !
Another cool touristy photo. We asked a guy to take a picture of us, but I think he understood that he should take a picture of us and the church. Anyhow, this is the St.John's church, where our school's annual Christmas sermon is held. One of the dullest churches in Tallinn, I think.

July 24, 2011

Yesterday I decided that there's no use in just sitting at home doing nothing alone so after a quick talk with Getter, we wound up just sitting at her home and doing nothing together. Actually we did do something .. we watched HIMYM, made sushi, played Scrabble, hanged on tumblr. We had planned to end the night watching Easy A, but instead we watched old pictures and had a good laugh.
Plus, it gave me a reason to wear my new shorts. Remember the giveaway at Selective Potential, that I won? I could choose myself something from Shopkempt and I chose these shorts. They are just wonderful. I love that they are so flowy, I love the colour, the little tie detail, the pockets and well.. the shortness.
And yes, these pictures are taken on a swing. Getter's idea. But I like them :)

July 22, 2011

Last Saturday, Getter and I went to the flea market. When we went out, it was a clear, sunny weather, but when we got to the flea market, it was pouring rain and of course we didn't have an umbrella with us. So we basically ran through the whole thing and then went to F-Hoone to have tea and dry. At first I was wearing my brown cardigan, but I bought this new white one and I switched into it afterwards because dry cardigan beats wet and cold cardigan any time. And because of the rain and humid weather my hair turned into a curly mess, but now, looking at those pictures, it doesn't look that bad. It's fun to have really curly hair instead of my usual waves.
After the flea market we visited the Tallinn Maritime Days. I wanted to see a ship called Krusenstern, mostly because my grandfather has sailed on it. It looked spectacular, the contrast between the modern ships and the old wooden ship was amazing. And then the sky turned really dark and evil and it was a perfect background for the ship.

Right now I'm on a trip to Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, the two biggest islands in Estonia and I scheduled this post on  the weekend. Scheduling is fun, totally loving it !
But I have this wonderful dress with me, so you'll have to imagine that my backyard is actually a beach in Hiiumaa :)

dress from a relative, denim jacket from my aunt, shoes and bracelets from my mom, DIY bracelet, hat from seppälä, vintage bag
( it seems like I never have to buy clothes, but get everything from my relatives.. I wish !)

I thought it was over

July 19, 2011

Friday night was spent at a fabulous club, it was my friend's birthday! A whole night spent dancing to flashing strobo lights and bad Estonian pop music.
I even remade my blouse for that birthday, I love the cutout shoulders and I'm so looking forward to the next time I can wear that blouse. And I even wasn't that disturbed by the shortness of the shirt. Because I was going to wear my high waisted cutoff's, but usual jeans just looked so much better. And I settled for kind-of-a-crop-top.

This week..

July 16, 2011

What I've been up to this week...

Listening to Ewert and the Two Dragons album that I bought and eating lots of ice-cream (this particular one is banana+chocolate+toffee+vanilla with chocolate chips+almonds)

I made macaroons. It was quite simple actually, but they didn't look that great( except the three on the picture). The taste is alright, especially with raspberry jam..

Finally found a similar-to-tiffany-blue nail polish. It's actually a bit darker, but I love it :)

I received a necklace from Threadsence that I got from Chictopia. Can't wait to wear it !

I went to see Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinski. I really didn't like the movie, it was quite dull and boring. I liked Coco avant Chanel so much more..
